Dr. Anne Carson Daly
Dr. Anne Carson Daly is the Vice President for Academic Affairs and the Dean of Faculty at Belmont Abbey College. She has more than three decades of experience in education, government and private industry.
Dr. Daly, who has published and spoken on a wide range of scholarly and popular issues in the U.S. and abroad, has taught at Johns Hopkins University, the University of Notre Dame, and Georgetown University. She also has taught for the New Hampshire Teachers’ Academy, for the Intercollegiate Studies Institute, and at the California Polytechnic Institute. Most recently, Dr. Daly served as a corporate communications consultant and, prior to that, as Director of Policy Communications for Pfizer, the world’s largest pharmaceutical company. From 1987-1994, she worked for the National Advisory Council on Educational Research and Improvement, which advised the President, the Congress, and the Secretary of Education on educational issues nationwide. Dr. Daly was also an education research fellow at the U.S. Department of Education.
Dr. Daly’s broad view of education comes not only from teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels, but also from a background in research and policy communications. Her strengths lie in her intellectual creativity and her firm commitment to the Catholic intellectual tradition.
Dr. Daly earned a Ph.D. and M.A. in English Literature from Johns Hopkins University, as well as a B.A. in English Literature and History from Mount Holyoke College.
