“This is a great place for adult students to obtain their life-long goals and at the same time develop life-long friendships. The support, belief and hope push you to the finish line.”
– Elsie A. Henderson
Psychology Major Full-time student, business owner, homemaker
“The instructors are so understanding and know the adult experience of trying to return to school while balancing work and taking care of a family and all the other daily things that come up. I want to encourage anyone who is considering a school to look at Belmont Abbey College.” -Warren E. Moses Business Management Major with a concentration in Human Resource Management
“My professors have been great and have taught me a lot. They really are passionate in what they teach, and they care about the students. The criminal justice department here is phenomenal. “– Stephanie V. Lee Criminal Justice Major Full-time student
More than 69% of Belmont Abbey College’s faculty have doctoral or terminal degrees. Being small and high quality, the Abbey provides an education by exceptional faculty with the one-on-one attention you deserve. Here’s just a small sample of our outstanding faculty. Dr. Julie Beeman – Criminal Justice Professor: I love the small classes and the numerous opportunities I have to get to know my students, in and out of the classroom. Our Criminal Justice majors are drawn to this field out of a genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of their neighbors and communities. I’m honored to guide them toward a deeper understanding of society and human nature. As a former practitioner, my experiences help students learn how to turn theory into practice.
Dr. Hugh Sales – Business Professor: After a very diverse and exciting business career I decided to return to school, obtain a PhD, and become a college professor. In my career, I found the best employees were those who had a solid, well-rounded liberal arts education as well as professional skills. Belmont Abbey gives students this well-rounded background, with the added benefit of ethical and moral perspectives that can make them valuable and worthy citizens in life and business.
Sarah Powell – Education Professor: I don’t think you’ll find too many department chairs that teach the first class. I prefer to teach them because I want to show them the realities of the classroom and the multiple joys and challenges of being a teacher. And then I get to follow them up through graduation and watch them mature and learn the skill of teaching, and also develop in their hearts a real passion for children and learning.
