Belmont Abbey College seeks an Assistant Vice Provost for Student Excellence in Life and Calling.
Reporting to the Vice Provost and Dean for Institutional Effectiveness, the Assistant Vice Provost will lead the College’s Center for Excellence in Life and Calling. This Center integrates academic advising for undeclared students, holistic career development services, internship and experiential learning support, and the First-Year Experience program. The successful candidate will be a dynamic leader who will implement innovative, coordinated, mission-focused services and programs and will champion cross-campus collaboration and partnerships that will embed future-focused career development into all areas of the student experience at the College. The position will lead the transition of mindset and culture on campus from a transactional approach to academic and career advising to one of the purpose-driven pathways to students’ futures. The ideal candidate will engage internal stakeholders and external community partners to develop a collaborative model of integrated advising, career planning, and experiential learning to take students from matriculation through graduation and beyond. This individual will also guide the implementation of the College’s early alert community-based retention system.
The ideal candidate will have a Master’s Degree in a discipline related to student development in higher education, with a minimum of five (5) years experience in an academic advising, career services, or corporate recruitment management role. Must have managerial or leadership experience. Demonstrated ability to collect, analyze, and use data to inform strategic decision-making. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Must have the ability and willingness to work late evenings and weekends, as necessary, to support College events. Demonstrated ability to leverage stakeholder relationships that have created community partnerships and documented postgraduate outcomes. Demonstrated proficiency using and integrating technology tools. Preference for experience utilizing Handshake Career Management Software (Handshake), Canvas Learning Management System, Ellucian PowerCampus, or another student information database.
