Associate Athletic Director for External Operations
Position Summary
Belmont Abbey College, an NCAA Division II institution and member of the Conference Carolinas, invites applications for the position of Associate Athletic Director for External Operations.
Job Responsibilities
The successful candidate for this full-time, twelve-month position will report to the Director of Athletics and collaborate with coaches and staff to achieve the overall mission and strategic goals of the College and athletic department. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Plan and execute the primary fundraising event, Giving Day.
- Oversees Community Involvement/Outreach for the Athletic Department
- Create and establish relationships with businesses to produce financial growth for the department.
- Active involvement in decision-making regarding key issues which impact the day-to-day operations and future goals of the athletic department
- Sport oversight
- Scheduling
- Assisting with special events
- Game day management
The incumbent must fulfill these responsibilities while adhering to all rules, guidelines and principles as set forth by the NCAA, Conference Carolinas and Belmont Abbey College.
Qualifications
Although candidates with alternative experience and/or slightly different skill sets will be given consideration, excellent interpersonal skills are essential. The minimum qualifications for this position include a bachelor’s degree and two years or more of experience in college athletics administration.
Preference will be given to those candidates who can demonstrate a strategic vision for the day-to-day operations of a growing athletics department. This vision must complement the institution’s mission and character as a distinctively Catholic and Benedictine college which views sport as a means of developing virtue. The successful candidate must demonstrate initiative and self-motivation, and have a proven record of compatibility with a diverse range of constituents and stakeholders, both internally and externally.
In addition, candidates must wholeheartedly embrace the mission of the College to educate students in the liberal arts and sciences so that in all things God may be glorified. The incumbent will consistently demonstrate skills, attitudes, and stable disposition of character to support our Catholic and Benedictine identity while fostering the development of mind, body, and spirit in our students, our staff and the greater community. Finally, candidates must have a sincere appreciation and acceptance of our Catholic approach to education and an understanding of Pope Saint John Paul II’s Ex Corde Ecclesiae.
