Position Summary
Belmont Abbey College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor of Data Analytics, to begin August 2023.
Job Responsibilities
The College’s Data Analytics and Strategic Analysis programs prepare students to use current technologies and quantitative methods as applied in business, non-profit, and government fields to generate ethical, data-informed decisions and recommendations.
The standard undergraduate teaching load is 4:4, whereas graduate faculty teaching load is 3:3, with the balance of course assignments to be determined by the Program Coordinator. Service to the department, College, and community; scholarly development; and contributing positively to the College’s mission are expected.
Qualifications
An earned doctorate in a field related to Data Analytics and Quantitative Analysis (e.g. Data Science, Business Analytics, Economics, Computer Science, Statistics, etc.). Candidates who are currently ABD may be considered for an interview if the evidence supports a degree conferral no later than May 2023 as an earned doctorate is a requirement for appointment.
The successful applicant will have expertise in causal inference, statistical modeling, quantitative program evaluation, database management, and statistical software applications (Excel, R, SAS, STATA) to be deemed qualified to teach quantitative-focused courses supporting courses in undergraduate and/or graduate programs in Data Analytics and Strategic Analysis.
Qualified candidates must have experience developing and teaching courses using multiple modalities (seated, online, and blended learning environments). Familiarity with distance learning and an ability to utilize technology applications and learning management systems, such as Canvas, in instruction is expected. Faculty teaching fully online courses must possess or be willing to obtain Quality Matters certification.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Preference will be given to those candidates who can demonstrate 1) a record of excellence in undergraduate teaching and a sense of teaching as a vocation; 2) a philosophy of teaching that supports the approach to education expressed in St. John Paul II’s Ex Corde Ecclesiae; and 3) a strong desire to teach at a liberal arts institution where the academic program is “guided by the Catholic intellectual tradition and the Benedictine spirit of prayer and learning.”
