Assistant Athletic Director for External Operations
Belmont Abbey College, an NCAA Division II institution and member of the Conference Carolinas, invites applications for the position of Assistant Athletic Director for External Operations.
The successful candidate for this full-time, twelve-month position will report to the director of athletics and collaborate with coaches and staff to achieve the overall mission and strategic goals of the College and athletic department. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, active involvement in decision-making regarding key issues which impact the day-to-day operations and future goals of the athletic department; revenue generation, such as ticket sales, fundraising and securing sponsorships; liaising between the athletic director and multiple women’s athletic programs; ensuring the representation of women’s interests and gender equity across all programs within the athletic department; oversight of the department’s public relations, brand awareness, social media objectives and other marketing initiatives; organizing community outreach on behalf of the department, including charitable events on and off campus; and other related duties as assigned. The incumbent must fulfill these responsibilities while adhering to all rules, guidelines and principles as set forth by the NCAA, Conference Carolinas and Belmont Abbey College.
Preference will be given to those candidates who can demonstrate a strategic vision for the day-to-day operations of a growing athletics department. This vision must complement the institution’s mission and character as a distinctively Catholic and Benedictine college which views sport as a means of developing virtue. The successful candidate must demonstrate initiative and self-motivation, and have a proven record of compatibility with a diverse range of constituents and stakeholders, both internally and externally. Excellent interpersonal skills are essential. The minimum qualifications for this position include a bachelor’s degree and two years or more of experience in college athletics administration.

The incumbent will consistently demonstrate skills, attitudes, and stable disposition of character to support our Catholic and Benedictine identity while fostering the development of mind, body, and spirit in our students, our staff and the greater community. Finally, candidates must have a sincere appreciation and acceptance of our Catholic approach to education and an understanding of Pope Saint John Paul II’s Ex Corde Ecclesiae.
