The Roundtable program was launched by Belmont Abbey College in the spring of 2019 as a partnership with local business and community leaders to discuss subjects and issues of interest to Gaston County and the surrounding region, with the goal of expanded collaboration among community partners.

As a follow-up to a survey we recently conducted with Roundtable attendees, this program topic will focus on commonalities and variables in disaster recovery plans that were in place before March of 2020 and how local organizations have made and are continuing to make changes/adaptations in their emergency preparedness plans, based on both the immediate and residual impacts of the pandemic – along with other potential threats to business continuity planning.

Key health-focused collaborations that are paving the way for more strategic thinking about how organizations in the community can work together to maximize impact.

Acting Director of the NC District Office of the Small Business Administration
Mike will briefly share information about how business owners can apply for the new PPP (Paycheck Protection Program) loans. Given the ongoing impact of COVID on local businesses, Dr. Thierfelder wants to make this information readily available to our attendees.
Steve Eaton
Director of the Gaston County Department of Health and Human Services
Steve will provide updates on COVID in Gaston County and the local vaccination process.
Dr. Todd Davis
EVP and Chief Medical Officer at CaroMont Health
Dr. Davis will discuss data from the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute and the latest Gaston County Health Assessment.
Donna Elliott
Executive Director of HealthNet Gaston
Donna will share information about the mission, points of focus, and partnerships of the Gaston Together Healthcare Commission. Donna is serving this year as Chair of the Commission.
This Roundtable will serve as the springboard for a follow-up Roundtable on April 21st during which we will highlight health-focused programs that are making a significant impact, as well as other examples of collaboration and strategic planning to improve the health of our community.
