Leadership Team

Position: President
Hometown: Naples, Italy
Major: Political Philosophy & Government
Year: Senior

After I moved here from Italy, I was looking for somewhere that would feel like home. When I came across the Abbey I fell in love with the campus; the people, programs, class sizes, and activities make you feel like you’re part of a family. I joined the Abbey Advocates to show prospective students that there is a place for them at the Abbey too. Along with my major in Political Philosophy and Government, I am getting minors in Pre-law, International Studies, and Modern Languages.

Position: Vice President
Hometown: Gastonia, NC
Major: English
Year: Junior

Since moving from Hershey, PA, when I was five, I have lived in Gastonia, NC, with my wonderful parents and nine siblings, five of whom have attended the Abbey. When it came to choosing a college, the Abbey was my first choice. Because of its environment, The Abbey was already home by the time I was accepted; the family atmosphere, while on campus, is contagious, friendships are made exceptionally fast, and the school radiates positivity. Aside from majoring in English, I am on the Student Government Association (SGA) board; athletically, I run Track and Field and Cross Country, respectively.

Position: Tour Guide Team Lead
Hometown: Williamstown, NJ
Major: Criminal Justice
Year: Junior

I am a part of the Men’s Volleyball team, as well as Abbey Players. I came to the Abbey because of the amazing atmosphere that is present on campus. I became an Abbey Advocate to help those who are undecided to come to Belmont Abbey.

Position: Event Guide Team Lead
Hometown: Upstate New York
Major: Sport Management
Year Junior

My favorite part about the abbey is the people and the community that I get to be a part of.

Position: Office Guide Team Lead
Hometown: Montgomery Village, MD
Major: Great Books
Year: Junior

I chose to come to college here at the Abbey because of the welcoming community and small class size. I’m a member of the Honors College and majoring in Great Books. I am also involved with the Abbey Players, Campus Activities Board, and the Ballroom Dance Club. I’ve made so many strong friendships here at the Abbey and I love it so much here!

Position: Social Media Team Lead
Hometown: Alexandria, VA
Major: Marketing
Year: Junior

I am a freshman from the DC Metropolitan area, specifically Alexandria, Virginia. I chose to come down to Charlotte and attend the Abbey for my love of small schools and the community here. I also run track and field here at the Abbey and on my visit here, it truly felt like home. No other school I attended struck me as much and I hope with the help of the advocates, we can make sure prospective students feel this way as well.

Position: Tour Guide
Hometown: Kenner, LA

Here at the Abbey I am a part of the Hintemeyer Leadership Program, Campus Activities Board, and now Abbey Advocates! Choosing Belmont Abbey was the best decision I’ve ever made. Selecting a school that was over 10 hours away from home and where I didn’t know a single person was certainly scary but I wouldn’t change it for anything. I have met some of my best friends here who I know will last a lifetime, have grown much deeper in my faith, and have already learned so many amazing new things!

Position: Tour Guide
Hometown: Bowie, Maryland
Major: Parish and Pastoral Ministries
Year: Senior

I’m a transfer student at the Abbey going into my second year. Before the Abbey, I went to my local community college for two years. I did this because I graduated high school when I was 16 and was not ready to move away from home yet. After finishing General Education Studies at community college, I began applying to four year schools. I chose the Abbey because of the welcoming community and strong Catholic presence on campus. Coming from a family of ten children, I’ve been blessed to grow up in a loving, faith centered environment. I found this atmosphere extremely present at the Abbey the first time I visited for Scholarship Weekend. I decided to become an Abbey Advocate to continue to foster this welcoming family environment and share my great love for the Abbey with anyone who visits! I am part of the Hintemeyer Catholic Leadership program and I am also part of CAB (Campus Activities Board). I enjoy swimming, swing dancing, baking, music, and hiking.

I chose the Abbey because of its small size, strong Catholic culture, and the fact that it feels like home. Everyone is so close and friendly at the Abbey, and all of the professors love meeting the students and working with them closely to ensure their success. It is so easy to make a mark on the campus. For example, one of my favorite pastimes is to play board games and I helped to start the Tabletop club on campus! I am a Hintemeyer scholar here at the Abbey. This program is the main reason I decided to come here for my undergraduate education. I heard about the Abbey from The Newman Guide to Choosing a Catholic College. As a convert to the Catholic faith, it has become an important part of my identity. Consequently, I wanted to come to a small liberal arts college that had strong Catholic values. I also enjoy being near Uptown Charlotte. It is a beautiful city with lots of fun things to do and places to eat. Lastly, I enjoy the small classroom sizes because it allows you to know your classmates and teachers personally. The professors are easily accessible and are more than happy to help.
