Admission to the program is determined by evaluating a combination of factors. These factors include:
- Undergraduate GPA
- Academic Preparation in a related field
- Work Experience in a related field
- Statement of purpose for pursuing MBA (Written Interview)
Applicants are not required to have an undergraduate degree in Business, but the following prerequisite courses are required for admission with a minimum grade of C or higher:
- Accounting 1 and 2
- Finance
- Micro- and Macro-Economics
- Marketing
- Business Statistics
- Principles of Management
- College Algebra and/or College Statistics (Belmont Abbey course MA 151 or MA 208 will satisfy this requirement)
In addition, students should demonstrate proficiency in Excel and financial calculators through coursework, projects, previous work, etc.
At the direction of the program director, applicants who do not meet some/all of these prerequisites may meet them by taking some combination of the following online courses at Belmont Abbey College during the summer or fall prior to an August or January program start date:
- BU 501 Quantitative Skills and Management Concepts for Business: This course provides a foundation of statistics and management concepts. Students will be immersed in statistics areas of probability, reliability, regression, chi square, and statistical output analysis and application. Management skills reviewed are motivation, human resources,management theory, and application.
- BU 502 Foundations of Accounting and Economics: This survey course provides a review of micro- and macro-economics along with a grounding in accounting principles. Macro-Economics course review topics include economic growth factors, pricing, stability, and employment. Micro-Economics topics include competition, price controls, price determination, and supply and demand. The Accounting portion reviews accounting principles as well as study of accounting theory.
- BU 503 Foundations of Marketing and Finance: In this course, students examine theory and application of marketing and finance. Marketing topics include the 4-P’s of marketing as well as advertising and promotion. Finance topics include financial concepts and theory to be used in business decision-making and problem solving within an organization. A financial calculator is required for this course.
International students whose primary language is not English must demonstrate English Language Proficiency according to College approved methods and thresholds ( For example, minimum TOEFL score—89 IBT)
NOTE: Students will be admitted and enrolled as Full-time Cohorts. Admission entry point in both fall and spring semesters.
This is a fully online program that can be completed within 12 months or 1 calendar year.
Students may enroll as part-time or full-time students. Part-time status will extend the total length of the program beyond the standard 10-12 months.
Students will choose one concentration and complete three courses specific to that concentration.The concentrations are: Accounting, Finance, Strategic Analysis/Data Analytics, Leadership, Marketing, Sports Management, and Motorsports Management.
- Completion of MBA Capstone Project (3 credit hours) during final semester with approval of written report and successful delivery of oral presentation to combined faculty and workplace audience
- Total Credits Required for Graduation = 30 credit hours with no more than six credit hours transferred into BAC
- Achievement of 3.0 GPA for combined program course work
- Completion of all required coursework within seven years after program admission

This is a fully online program that can be completed within as little as 11 months. Students may enroll as part-time or full-time students. Part-time status will extend the total length of the program beyond the standard 10-12 months.

- Introduction to Data Analytics (Required)
- This course introduces the student to data analysis and statistical tools to improve managerial decision-making. Topics include an introduction to descriptive statistics, sampling methods and distribution, variance analysis, simple and multiple linear and nonlinear regressions, data management, hypothesis testing, confidence intervals, regression analysis, modeling uncertainty, and decision analysis. The course emphasizes an ethical approach to conducting analysis and effectively interpreting, communicating and applying the results to support business needs.
- Data Mining
- This course introduces students to the correlations, patterns and trends in data sets by utilizing both qualitative and quantitative techniques. Topics include theory, computation, tools and techniques that are prescriptive, predictive and descriptive; students learn to ethically analyze and interpret data sets and develop effective business strategies.
- Analytics Software Technology
- This course is an introduction to the software packages and coding languages for data management and analytics. Topics include importing data, data manipulation, data cleansing, data transformation, creating new variables, and basic data analysis.

- This course makes students aware that leadership is the indispensable discipline whether it is in service to the public, to a business or to other human enterprises. In a world of rapid change, increasing diversity and life altering technologies, effective leadership in a democratic society is increasingly difficult and requires people of exceptional abilities. The hope for this class is that it instills an appreciation for this reality and an appreciation for choosing a path of leadership that is fulfilling to you and enhancing to the world. - The modern economy and modern society are in a constant state of flux; change is continuous and often startlingly rapid. - This course analyzes consumers’ decision-making process and behaviors from a marketing strategy perspective. Students will analyze how consumers create meaning, evaluate how to protect and best serve vulnerable consumers, and weigh the impact of technology and value shifts.

- This course leverages research and analytical techniques to aid marketing managers in decision making. Students will learn how to evaluate results and findings for insights and potential implications in marketing strategy and tactical decision making.

Emphasis is placed on creating a framework for developing risk management strategies, policies, training systems, and best practices as they relate to mitigating risk in the sport industry.

- This course will examine the theories and practices of sport marketing, advertising, and public relations in today’s complex and competitive environment of sport business. This course will focus on the development of persuasive messaging and critical thinking in the development of emerging communication strategies used in the sport industry.
