A native New Yorker, Mike spent time growing up in Queens, Long Island, and in the small town of Rhinebeck in upstate New York. As a kid he developed a love for sports, especially basketball and tennis. In the 10th grade, Mike’s family made the decision to move to Kennesaw, GA (near Atlanta) where he decided to concentrate on basketball and played for a state championship his senior year. This led to his recruitment by the late Eddie Payne, head basketball coach at The Abbey. After one campus visit and the offer of a scholarship, Mike quickly accepted and became a Crusader.
While at The Abbey, Mike was a four-year letterman, Political Science major, and member of the Pi Gamma Mu academic society. Mike met his future wife and Abbey alumna, Annette (Stiwalt), while attending the college. Mike and Annette graduated in 1990 and were married at the Abbey Basilica in 1994.
Mike and Annette currently live in Winston-Salem, NC and enjoy traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
