In thanksgiving to God for Dr. and Mrs. Thierfelder, and in honor of more than two decades of faithful service to this community, Belmont Abbey College has established the Dr. & Mrs. William K. Thierfelder St. Joseph’s Chapel Fund, which aims to provide the necessary maintenance to sustain this beloved chapel in perpetuity. 

During their tenure as President and First Lady of Belmont Abbey College, Dr. and Mrs. Thierfelder continually dedicated themselves to the stability and stewardship that embrace God’s presence and rejoice in the workings of Divine Providence. The Saint Joseph Adoration Chapel itself was one of the president’s first priorities, and its construction an act of faith in which the Thierfelders joined Abbot Placid in prayerful leadership. 

Above any other goal, Dr. Thierfelder sought to reaffirm Christ’s central place at the heart of our campus, our mission, and our lives. And by breaking ground even before Belmont Abbey had secured funds for the chapel, the Thierfelders and Abbot Placid trusted in the vivid and active reality of this central Presence.
