Abbey Students Making a Difference
A few years ago, Belmont Abbey College partnered with Samaritan’s Purse for Operation Christmas Child with student Marvellous Okonne at the helm. We received more than $150 in cash donations and filled 123 shoeboxes filled with toys, school supplies, and hygiene products, which were distributed to children affected by war, poverty, natural disaster, famine, or disease.
Last year, thanks to the generosity of the Abbey community, Marvellous proudly presented Operation Christmas Child with $1,552.00 and 217 shoeboxes. The spirit of giving is strong at the Abbey!
I was once a kid who received a simple shoebox full of gifts. It changed my life and it reminded me that God loves me.

MORE ABOUT OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD
Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan’s Purse, an international relief organization. Their mission is to provide local partners around the world with shoeboxes filled with small toys, hygiene items, and school supplies as a means of reaching out to children in their own communities with the Good News of Jesus Christ. They ship these simple gifts outside the United States to children affected by war, poverty, natural disaster, famine, and disease; and to children living on Native American reservations in the United States.
