Meet Karen Hite Jacob

OF NOTE:
I am founder (1977) and director of a not-for-profit 501 c.3 period voice & instrument group. The ensemble, Carolina Pro Musica, maintains a concert series in Charlotte. Since 2017 the ensemble has presented GEMS – Gaston Early Music Series with funding from the NC Arts Council. We are also artists in residence at the college since 2001.

KNOWN FOR:
I am known as a founder of several non-profit music groups and societies as well as a harpsichordist and concert performer and promoter.

WHEN NOT IN THE CLASSROOM, CAN OFTEN BE FOUND:
When not in the classroom, I can be found working on our over 150 year-old house, researching historic music, visiting locations associated with it, helping with videos on Carolina Pro Musica’s YouTube Channel, and keeping up with musical colleagues at home or abroad.

POPULAR QUOTE:
“Music is never created in a vaccuum. There is always a story associated with it if you take the time to look for it.”
