Belmont Abbey College Announces Abbey Advantage Scholarship for North Carolina Students
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Belmont, N.C. (November 14, 2024) – In a continued effort to support the educational aspirations of local high school students, Belmont Abbey College is thrilled to announce the launch of its new Abbey Advantage Scholarship Program. This initiative is designed to provide financial assistance and academic opportunities for high-achieving high school seniors from North Carolina who hope to attend college, furthering their academic, personal, and spiritual growth.
Leveraging the students’ state and federal grants first, the college will award an institutional merit award to meet the full cost of tuition of $21,500 for the 2025-2026 academic year. “We are excited to offer this scholarship as a way to support the talented young people in our community,” said Dr. Jesse Dorman, Vice Provost of Enrollment at Belmont Abbey College. “As a private Catholic institution, we believe in fostering academic and spiritual growth that helps prepare our students for meaningful lives post-college. To this end, we are committed to making higher education accessible for those who are dedicated to living out our values of faith, service, and leadership.” The Abbey Advantage Scholarship is available to first time, full-time non athletes pursuing a traditional major of study. Students must have completed the FAFSA and the NC Residency Determination Form for the NC Need Based Grant. Students must be receiving the full Pell Grant and NC Need Based Aid amounts. Eligible candidates must have earned at least a 2.8 high school GPA and reside in the following counties- Gaston, Lincoln, Cleveland, and Mecklenburg.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Belmont, N.C. (October 15, 2024) – Belmont Abbey College announces today that the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (http://www.ccneaccreditation.org/) has fully accredited its Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree (BSN) and its Master of Science in Nursing Leadership degree programs (MSN). This prestigious recognition highlights the college’s commitment to developing compassionate, competent healthcare professionals grounded in faith and ethics. CCNE’s accreditation is effective retroactively from February 28, 2024, until December 2029. At the end of the term, CCNE will reaffirm the upholding of its accreditation standards through another site visit.

Belmont Abbey College Launches Direct Admit Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Program
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Belmont, N.C. (September 30, 2024) – Today Belmont Abbey College announces that beginning in Fall 2025, the college will offer direct entry to its Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program, eliminating the stress of a separate application process. The Direct Admission BSN program will allow students to secure their place in the nursing program upon acceptance to the college. Accepted students will begin the BSN curriculum within 2 years of starting at Belmont Abbey College and must maintain admission standards and progression throughout their time in the program.
To be considered for the BSN Direct Admission program at Belmont Abbey College, students must earn a minimum unweighted high school GPA of 3.25, be admitted to the college by February 15, 2025, and submit their enrollment deposit upon acceptance into the Direct Admit Program. In line with the college’s commitment to expanding nursing education rooted in the Catholic tradition, this new initiative plays a vital role in meeting the growing demand for skilled nursing professionals both within our community and beyond.
The Direct Admission BSN program is designed to provide aspiring nurses with a streamlined pathway to earn their degree and enter the healthcare workforce. The demand for skilled nursing professionals continues to rise, with the Bureau of Labor Statistics projecting a 9% increase in nursing jobs over the next decade. “Healthcare is evolving, and we recognize the need for a more efficient pathway into nursing education,” said Julie Fleming, Assistant Vice Provost of Admissions at Belmont Abbey College. “Our Direct Admission BSN program simplifies the admission process and ensures that our students receive the support and resources they need to succeed from day one.” This new program aims to equip students with the knowledge and experience they need to thrive in the workforce and ultimately, make a meaningful impact in their communities.

Belmont, N.C. (June 24, 2024) – Belmont Abbey College is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Jesse Dorman as the new Vice Provost of Enrollment. Drawing from a wealth of experience with Catholic colleges and knowledge in online and graduate enrollment, Dorman is poised to make a significant impact on the college’s enrollment efforts.
Dorman joins Belmont Abbey College from Peru State College, where he served as the Vice President for Enrollment Management. During his tenure, he successfully implemented strategies that resulted in enhanced enrollment and improved student retention. His dedication to student success and his commitment to the mission of Catholic higher education make him an ideal fit for Belmont Abbey College.
Dorman has served various leadership roles within numerous Catholic colleges, including Christendom College and Mount St. Mary’s University, as well as Franciscan University of Steubenville. His extensive background in Catholic higher education will be instrumental in attracting students who align with the college’s values and mission. As the Vice Provost of Enrollment, Dorman will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the college’s enrollment efforts, including recruitment and admissions.
