The Catholic College Summer Program – Schola

The beauty and wonder of true leisure.

Wisdom and Foolishness

Schola is a week-long summer program for high school students; we will read classic works of philosophy and literature, engage in group discussions with Honors College faculty, and experience the local culture and recreation of the beautiful Charlotte, NC, region.

The Schola program primarily takes place on the Belmont Abbey College campus; we will also take excursions in the nearby area. Students will build friendships together, through conversations with peers and professors; enjoy time to relax, join in the daily prayer life on campus, and pursue outdoor activities. By the end of the week in our Belmont, NC Catholic college summer program, students will have grown in wisdom, critical thinking, and camaraderie.

Washington D.C. Schola

Do you know a student who should be nominated for our Washington D.C. Schola: The Colloquium for Catholic Statesmanship? This is a four-day summer program that examines the role of Catholic statesmanship in the American public square. Through daily seminars, students engage with the writings and speeches of the most important Catholic intellectuals and politicians who grappled with the nuances of being both Catholic and American. Students analyze case studies of important Catholic politicians, examine how Catholicism has impacted the history of the United States, and explore how Catholic social thought can be applied to public policy.
