Curriculum

Program Requirements

Seven-Module Sequence:
  • Unit 1: Fundamentals of Financial Planning
  • Unit 2: Insurance Planning
  • Unit 3: Retirement Planning
  • Unit 4: Investment Planning
  • Unit 5: Income Tax Planning
  • Unit 6: Estate Planning
  • Unit 7: Case Studies

It is the student’s responsibility to see that all degree requirements for graduation are fulfilled.

Program Schedule

This is a fully in-person 12-month program. It is designed for the working professional and classes are scheduled on Friday evenings from 6-10 PM and Saturdays 8 AM-4:30 PM throughout the program. The first unit begins on Friday, March 10, 2023 and the final class is currently set to take place on Saturday, February 3, 2024. See below for a detailed schedule.

Unit 1 Fundamentals of Financial Planning:
March 10-11, 2023 – Friday 6-10 PM and Saturday 8 AM-4:30 PM
March 12-25, 2023 – Friday 6-10 PM and Saturday 8 AM-4:30 PM
April 7-8, 2023 – Friday 6-10 PM and Saturday 8 AM-4:30 PM

Unit 2 Insurance Planning:
April 21-22, 2023 – Friday 6-10 PM and Saturday 8 AM-4:30 PM
May 5-6, 2023 – Friday 6-10 PM and Saturday 8 AM-4:30 PM
May 19-20, 2023 – Friday 6-10 PM and Saturday 8 AM-4:30 PM

Unit 3 Retirement Planning:
June 2-3, 2023 – Friday 6-10 PM and Saturday 8 AM-4:30 PM
June 16-17, 2023 – Friday 6-10 PM and Saturday 8 AM-4:30 PM
June 30-July 1, 2023 – Friday 6-10 PM and Saturday 8 AM-4:30 PM

Unit 4 Investment Planning:
July 14-15, 2023 – Friday 6-10 PM and Saturday 8 AM-4:30 PM
July 28-29, 2023 – Friday 6-10 PM and Saturday 8 AM-4:30 PM
August 11-12, 2023 – Friday 6-10 PM and Saturday 8 AM-4:30 PM
August 26, 2023 (Saturday only) – 8 AM-4:30 PM

Unit 5 Income Tax Planning:
September 8-9, 2023 – Friday 6-10 PM and Saturday 8 AM-4:30 PM
September 22-23, 2023 – Friday 6-10 PM and Saturday 8 AM-4:30 PM
October 6-7, 2023 – Friday 6-10 PM and Saturday 8 AM-4:30 PM
October 21, 2023 (Saturday only) – 8 AM-4:30 PM

Unit 6 Estate Planning:
November 3-4, 2023 – Friday 6-10 PM and Saturday 8 AM-4:30 PM
November 17-18, 2023 – Friday 6-10 PM and Saturday 8 AM-4:30 PM
December 1-2, 2023 – Friday 6-10 PM and Saturday 8 AM-4:30 PM

Unit 7 Case Studies:
December 15-16, 2023 – Friday 6-10 PM and Saturday 8 AM-4:30 PM
January 5-6, 2024 – Friday 6-10 PM and Saturday 8 AM-4:30 PM
January 19-20, 2024 – Friday 6-10 PM and Saturday 8 AM-4:30 PM
February 3, 2024 (Saturday only) – 8 AM-4:30 PM

CFP Exam Given in March 2024

Tuition & Fees

Program Tuition:$5,495

Monthly tuition payment plans are available.

Textbooks: Estimated cost of $1,795

Books and materials are purchased directly from Dalton Education.

Application Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Have earned a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university prior to completion of the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ Certification Education Program at Belmont Abbey College.
  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Submit a registration fee upon application of $100. (Belmont Abbey College faculty, staff, students, and alumni are eligible for a fee waiver.)

There are no prerequisite courses, but we recommend that applicants have taken an undergraduate course in statistics or quantitative analysis. An undergraduate course in Finance or Personal Finance is also recommended.
