Minor in Greek*
FOUNDATIONS IN GREEK LANGUAGE AND THOUGHT
The Greek minor gives students a solid foundation in the Greek language, with a focus on reading and understanding key texts from classical, patristic, and liturgical traditions. Using the immersive, living language approach of Hans Ørberg’s Latin course adapted for Greek, the program fosters direct engagement with original sources central to Western and Christian thought. Ideal for students pursuing majors in theology, philosophy, or the liberal arts, the minor complements a wide range of disciplines and supports further study or teaching in classical education settings.

In Partnership with Veterum Sapientia Institute (VSI)
Greek minors may take select online courses through Belmont Abbey’s partnership with the Veterum Sapientia Institute. VSI teaches Greek as a living language, forming students in the Catholic intellectual and spiritual tradition. This collaboration blends the flexibility of online learning with the Abbey’s close-knit academic community, enriching the minor with deeper engagement and classical language mastery.
