Transferring to the Abbey
We understand that transferring to a new college is a big decision. That’s why we offer generous transfer credit acceptance to help you bring as many credits as possible with you, so you can continue your educational journey with confidence.

We are here for you
Transferring colleges can feel overwhelming, but at the Abbey, we want you to feel right at home from the very beginning. Our team is dedicated to walking with you through each step of the admissions process, making your transition as smooth, welcoming, and stress-free as possible.

How it Works
Step one: Submit Your Application
The first step is to submit your application above. Belmont Abbey College’s application can be submitted online for free. An essay is not required for initial submission. If you are a current NC High School student, you will be prompted to create a CFNC (College Foundation of North Carolina) account. This is a free account that lets you work on your application over time. If you are not a current NC High School student, you will fill out our free Belmont Abbey Online Application.
Students can transfer to Belmont Abbey College in the Fall or Spring semesters. On our application, you can select your anticipated start term and year, as well as your method of delivery (online or traditional).
You have two options for applying to The Abbey: All students applying prior to October 30 will be Early Action* candidates, and will find out their admissions decision by mail, and electronically on November 6th. After October 30th, all applications will be accepted on a rolling basis, and students who submit their applications can expect an admissions decision within one week of completing their file.
Step two: Submit Your Transcript
We accept unofficial transcripts as part of the admissions process. Each transcript must include the name of the school, the student’s name, and the most up-to-date grades. If you have earned fewer than 25 college credits, you will also need to submit your high school transcript. Please note that we require transcripts from every institution you have attended.
Unofficial transcripts can be sent via email to admissions@bac.edu or to our address:
Belmont Abbey College
Office of Admissions
100 Belmont-Mt.Holly Road
Belmont, NC 28012
If you are accepted, Belmont Abbey College will need copies of your official transcripts, which can be submitted electronically via services such as Naviance, Parchment, and the National Student Clearinghouse, or sent from your previous institutions to the address above.
If you were enrolled at the time of graduation at a participating public high school in North Carolina, you can request that your high school transcript be sent through CFNC.
* Early Action is a non-binding program that allows you to find out your admissions decision early in the fall of your senior year. Merit scholarships, institutional grants, and state and federal aid offered by Belmont Abbey are available to both Early Action and Rolling Admissions candidates. However, priority consideration for institutional grant money is given to students who complete and file the FAFSA before February 1st. Students who haven’t taken an ACT, SAT, or CLT exam are eligible to apply for Early Action.
Be sure to explore and apply for the scholarships and grants that can make the Abbey an especially affordable option for you. Please note that some scholarships may include additional requirements or be tied to programs designed for a full four-year experience. If you have any questions or would like to discuss scholarship opportunities in more detail, please email admissions@bac.edu.
Enrollment
- Dual enrollment students may take up to two courses per semester. Advanced dual enrollment students may enroll in three or more courses after their first semester.
- General courses offered for the first dual enrolled semester are 100-level or 200-level courses.
- Dual enrollment students will not be guaranteed certain courses.
- Credits are transferrable to other colleges of choice, but the GPA does not transfer.
- If a student enrolls at BAC after high school, the GPA they earned in dual-enrolled college courses will remain with them for their college career.
Belmont Abbey College generally accepts transfer credits for courses taken at colleges and universities accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and the U.S. Department of Education (USDE), with a grade of “C” or better. Belmont Abbey College will accept a maximum of sixty (60) credit (semester) hours from a community college. However, Belmont Abbey College will transfer a maximum of sixty-four (64) credit (semester) hours for students who graduate under the North Carolina Community College articulation agreement and receive an AA or AS degree. Credit hours, not grade points, are transferred. We accept a maximum of 90 credits from a four-year college or university.
An official international credit evaluation must be submitted alongside the international college transcript. The College Registrar will determine how international college credits transfer.
