The Potential Overturn of Roe vs. Wade
In episode 1 of the Conversatio podcast Dr. David Williams, Dr. Joseph Wysocki, and Dr. Mary Imparato discuss the history of abortion laws including Roe vs. Wade and Planned Parenthood vs. Casey, the leak of the potential overturn, and what America might look like after the decision is made.
On the Feast of the Sacred Heart, Roe v. Wade is Overturned
From the desk of Dr. Bill Thierfelder, President of Belmont Abbey College:
For decades we have prayed for the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade. Today it has finally happened!
“The Constitution does not confer a right to abortion; Roe and Casey are overruled; and the authority to regulate abortion is returned to the people and their elected representatives,” the decision, written by Justice Samuel Alite declared.
To all of the students, faculty, staff, monks, and friends who have prayed and worked for an end to abortion, to those who made the long, cold trip to Washington, DC each year for the March for Life, who prayed on the steps of the Supreme Court for the end to abortion, I want to thank you for your incredible fidelity and perseverance. Prayers are answered!
I realize that there is more work to do on the State level but we should stop and give thanks to God for His infinite grace and mercy.
I also do not believe in coincidences. This announcement was released on the Feast of the Sacred Heart!
Sacred Heart of Jesus
The Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus is celebrated on the octave day of the feast of Corpus Christi. In the 17th century Jesus appeared in a vision to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque asking her to request that this feast be celebrated in honor of his Sacred Heart in reparation for the ingratitude of mankind toward the sacrifice of his love on the Cross. Pope Pius IX extended the feast of the Sacred Heart to the universal Church in 1856. The imagery of Christ pointing to his heart, on fire with love, signifies his immense and infinite love for humanity which took Him to the Cross to die for our salvation. The Sacred Heart of Jesus desires that all mankind draw close to Him in love and trust. Today this devotion, given to the faithful by Our Lord himself, is among the most popular of the Catholic Church.
