Faculty & Leadership
Christopher Donoghue is the Director of the Abbey Players at Belmont Abbey College. He holds a Bachelor’s in Liberal Arts Studies from Belmont Abbey and a Masters in Fine Arts and Performance from the Professional Actors Training Program at the University of Washington. Christopher also attended and received certification from the International Student School, making him a professional stuntman. Along with performing, he has been directing theater since high school and has most recently been at the helm of The Women of Troy, A Piece of My Heart, and Guys & Dolls at BAC, and Sense and Sensibility at The Abbey for ETC Youth Guild. Not just an actor and director, Christopher has also choreographed fights for productions at Gaston Day, Charlotte Latin, and regional theaters nationwide. His most notable roles would be in the motion capture body of Kratos, the title character of Sony PlayStation’s God of War 4, Lord Capulet in Manhattan Rep’s Romeo & Juliet, and Pat in the University of Washington’s The Hostage.
Kristin Hayes is Program Coordinator of the Dance minor at the college, a program she built from the ground (or toes?) up. She is also the Director of The Abbey Dancers at Belmont Abbey College and chair of the Performing Arts Department. She has been dancing since she could walk and even while still growing up felt a calling to be a teacher. Having been trained in tap, ballet, modern, musical theater, and ballroom dance, she has studied with the Alvin Ailey Company and the Merce Cunningham Institute. Kristin earned a BA in Dance Education and MA in Arts Administration, both from Winthrop University. She has been teaching dance for over a decade in the Rock Hill and Charlotte area. At The Abbey, her choreography has been seen in Bye, Bye, Birdie, The Music Man, and Guys and Dolls, among others, and in various pieces for Christmas at The Abbey. She also launched an annual Dance Showcase, a dance concert that highlights the gifts and talents of faculty, guest artists, and Abbey students in our Dance Program as dancers, choreographers, and aerial artists.
